Tropical Vancouver Coriolistic Anachronisms - A Vancouver Blog

Hi, I'm your friendly Coriolibot (as in "ro-bot").

It would seem Vince (shame on him) hasn't posted a fresh entry in a couple of days, so I am here to keep you entertained no matter what!

The post below is a random entry that we hope you haven't read before. Regular current entries follow. Enjoy, and come back soon for brand new posts!

Note: this random entry is served on a per-visit basis and will change if you reload the page. It will also not show up on regular RSS, Feedburner and Twitter feeds.

Vintage! This is a random post. The year was 2008...

It’s been quite a while and they were getting dusty, but the best 90 South Africa pictures have made it into their own photo galleries. Nostalgic, eerie, beautiful, they will remain what they instantly became as the shutter was pressed: icons, timestamps, history been written and frozen in time. The two galleries are available from the main Photography menu above but to be sure you’ll visit, I’ll even include the links here:

South Africa Part 1 - South Africa Part 2

Don’t look for a particular sequence or logic, there is none but that of colors and moods. Of course most of these pictures have appeared in previous posts here on the blog in the On the Road Category, scattered between January 18th and April 18th. So while turmoil is once again gripping South Africa, here are glimpses of natural peace and harmony. Images of an extraordinary trip, in extraordinary company, for an extraordinary purpose.

2009 Update: Since the full site redesign, the 2008 South Africa gallery is now located here.

We now go back to current chronological entries:
Nov 9

Since there are no tropical storms roaming around the Caribbean at this time, the West Coast has decided to pick up the flag and go ahead with some nasty weather of its own. The Seattle area is issuing Gale and Flood Warnings for tonight and as for us, well, here’s part of the Environment Canada special warning:

Greater Vancouver

Wind warning for
Greater Vancouver continued
Strong southeast winds of 70 to 100 km/h will increase to 120 this evening.

Ouch. That’s hurricane strength on the Beaufort scale. Déjà vu. Except that going body surfing in the storm waves is out of the question and when the fury subsides, there will be no warm sand to make up for the rain and the wind. The clouds, however, will be as brilliant. Because the sky... But that will be my next post.
