reply Hey Vincent, this is one of the truest accounts I've read of the townships. I've been living in Cape Town for 9 months and it breaks my heart. In my wealthy white middle class environment I don't think I've been at ease since I got here. You scratch the glitzy surface of the city and the reality is quite desperate, and seemingly forgotten. Add to this how dangerous the townships are and there becomes an ever greater need and challenge to make a difference. I sincerely believe frankness about the reality of townships is the best place to start. A problem cannot be solved until it is fully acknowledged. So thanks for your very honest post. It really echoes many of my feelings.

reply Hi Zoey, Thanks for your comment. I feel a little out of place writing about an issue to which I am such a newcomer, but I agree that exposure is a good place to start and I hope that my account can maybe begin to make a tiny difference, somewhere, somehow...
