A stormy day, too little time to explore. I had assumed the Green-Wood cemetery would be like Calvary in Queens. It is nothing like it. Beside the obvious visit to the ancestors, one goes to Calvary for the broad open view towards distant Manhattan. In Green-Wood, the beauty is at close range. No views of the outside world but this is one of the most beautiful cemeteries I know, hilly, shaded by stunning old trees, sparsely used and very old. We spotted a tombstone dating back to the late seventeen hundreds! Brooklyn parrots were flying around, unashamedly breaking the code of silence. Absolutely no way to tell that we were surrounded by immense Brooklyn. Marie has many beautiful shots here. I can’t wait to see the place in fall and winter!
